Expectation and Treatment Results

TREATMENT GOALS

The majority of my patients are in one of two categories 1) Those with long term symptoms which usually includes intermittent but significant exacerbations. These acute episodes can be treated and one should return to their normal. 2) The other type of painful episode includes those that you have never experienced but is now unbearable. The expectation with this type of pain should be a return to a normal life. 3) However, first time patients usually enter because of simply lifting or other strains and the X-rays yield long standing structural issues. This is good and bad. The good is we are now aware and can begin the process of stabilizing the spine. The bad is this may be the beginning of what was at one time not painful but may now be a re-occurring issue.
